"I speak Spanish to God, Italian to my women, French to my men and German to my horse." Charles V
Nice, Charles, but what did you speak to your dog? Obviously not English. I've tried talking baby talk to every hill town dog I see and they righteously ignore me. From Montepulciano to Pienza and beyond, they are all so busy making their daily rounds. None will stop to pose for us - it's one quick look and then off up, or down, the hill, their backsides all crudely the same.
Luckily, we managed to snap a few "cani" with their owners. Here they are. And, remember, all dogs are noble. Love, Susan p.s. Happy 5 1/2 Birthday, Jed.

How adorable. We can't resist those cute, furry little four legged critters but it seems that Italian dogs, at least, can resist us. There must be a message there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThe little girl with the puppy is so cute! and she looks sooo Italian with her dark hair and snapping black eyes!
